Newsletter No. 8 - December 2009

Merry Christmas & a safe & happy New Year!!

AMQA Inc committee would like to wish all our members a happy, joyous & blessed Christmas. We trust that all your customer quilts are complete and that you have made time for yourselves & your family at this special time of the year.

Vice Presidents’ Message

What a year we have had! We have been able to encourage our members to participate in classes with renowned teachers like Sharon Schamber and also to enjoy the benefits of attending the Longarm Symposium in June at the Quilt & Craft Expo. The benefits being twofold – growing in our machine quilting journey AND a subsidy on your membership fees for the following year! Keep an eye out for more of these benefits in 2010. We will announce them as they are finalised in our Continuous Lines newsletter.

Our inaugural AMQA Show was held in Brisbane in September. Our very hard working committee up there were exhausted but happy once it was all over. The feedback received from the public was amazing and the quality of the quilts outstanding!! Congratulations to all that entered as well as to those that received a ribbon! A very special thank you to all our sponsors of this show. Please take a moment to visit them all listed on the side of this newsletter and mention to them that you are an AMQA member & appreciate their support.

We are looking forward to the new year with the expectation that you, the members, will continue to grow and learn in your personal quilting journey. We hope, in some small way, that AMQA can encourage, support and assist you in this. To do this we NEED your feedback and input as members so that YOU can get the most out of this organisation. The more you put into something the more rewards you will receive back. This little rule is apt whether you apply it to your personal life, your business and/or your career, so please think on this whilst you have a little break over Christmas & New Year!

There will be some exciting news that will be revealed early in 2010 for all machine quilters, so please look out for your next newsletter!

In the meantime may you all have a safe & joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Tracey…

Membership information

Thankyou to all those that have renewed your membership for the upcoming year. We encourage you to participate in the running of AMQA Inc by giving us feedback & suggestions. A new initiative is the format in which you are now receiving this newsletter! It is now also a blog and we are providing links to all our member blogs on each newsletter. Therefore if you have a blog where you show all your work & share your machine quilting journey then this is yet another way to promote and express yourselves. Please advise our newsletter editor the address of your blog if you wish to share it.

We actually have TWO blogs! This one is for members to receive your Continuous Lines Newsletter and our main blog http://amqa-inc.blogspot.com/ is for the general public to view latest news & information on AMQA. So far photos of the exhibition are up there along with members prize winning quilts from other shows in Australia and overseas. This public blog will have an AMQA member blog roll on it for the general public to find you.
